FGV debates trade relations between Brazil and Thailand

"The Getulio Vargas Foundation's International Intelligence Unit (FGV IIU) promotes on July 13, 2021, at 10 am, on FGV's YouTube channel, a debate on the various relations between Brazil and Thailand.

In 2018, Thailand was Brazil's 7th largest trading partner in Asia, with trade of US$3.5 billion, of which US$1.9 billion corresponded to Brazilian exports and US$1.6 billion to imports from from Thailand.

The event is part of the Focus on Asia project, a cycle of interviews with diplomatic representatives from several Asian countries, aimed at understanding why Asia is today the world's main geoeconomic axis, a position that is still very little explored by Brazil. “The meeting aims to provide a comprehensive view of the multiple opportunities, problems and perspectives of interaction between Brazil and the country located in Southeast Asia”, informed FGV.

Tourism is one of Thailand's main activities, but the industry has been gaining prominence in recent years. The main products sold are clothing, jewelry, cement, sugar, computers and other electronic items. Thailand is one of the largest tungsten and tin producers in the world. The country's mines also produce coal, natural gas and precious stones.

The webinar will feature the Thai ambassador to Brazil, Nitivadee Manitkul and the director of FGV IIU, Renato Flôres, moderated by journalist Mariana Trigo."
