
Renato Baumann
A renowned researcher at the Brazilian Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA), Renato Coelho Baumann das Neves holds a degree in Economics from the University of Brasília (1972), a master's degree in Economics from the University of Brasília (1976) and a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom ), 1982. He was director of the ECLAC Office in Brazil between April 1995 and November 2010. He is currently a part-time professor at the University of Brasília. He has experience in the field of Economics, with an emphasis on Trade Relations; Trade Policy and Economic Integration. He won the BNDES awards for best master's thesis (Cycles in the Manufacturing Industry: A Study of Capacity Utilization-Brazil 1955-1975) and Haralambos Simeonidis / Anpec for best doctoral thesis (Export and Industrial Growth in Brazil). He wrote more than ten books, including two textbooks.
