Global Value Chains as a Regional Integration Tool: The Case of The Renewables Industry in South America

The FGV IIU conducted an Economic Policy Forum project, part of the Emerging Market Sustainability Dialogues Programme (EMSD).

With the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the IIU was able to produce a report entitled: "Global Value Chains as a Regional Integration Tool: The Case of The Renewables Industry in South America"; which details the current renewable energy network on the continent. The direction of the inputs necessary for the maintenance and expansion of the sector is also highlighted.

In the same way, the strategies to be chosen for a greater movement of resources in the region, taking advantage of the institutions and infrastructures present, are clarified in the report, giving us policy guidelines that would facilitate integration between countries such as: Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and French Guiana.

The report is authored by Professor Renato Flôres of the IIU, and Ruderico Pimentel, a former analyst of the IIU.
