This project aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the positions and policy approaches adopted by Brazil and South Korea at G20 summits from 2008 to the present. The G20, as a premier forum for international economic cooperation, offers a unique platform to examine how different countries navigate global economic challenges, articulate their national interests, and contribute to collective solutions. By analyzing the positions of Brazil and South Korea, this project seeks to understand the similarities and differences in their approaches to global economic governance.
The primary goals of this research project are:
1. Identify and compare the key themes and issues emphasized by Brazil and South Korea in G20 meetings.
2. Analyze the underlying factors that shape each country's positions, including economic conditions, domestic politics, and regional dynamics.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of Brazil and South Korea's strategies in influencing G20 outcomes and advancing their national interests.
4. Provide insights into how middle-power countries can navigate and influence global governance in multilateral forums like the G20.
5. Identify areas and pathways in which both countries could cooperate further.
6. Raise awareness to the theme in both countries, offering subsidies to for both policy makers and the academic community.
